Longkou, April 18 - In the afternoon of April 15th, centralized control room of Longxi Coal Preparation Plant, Shandong Energy Longkou MIning Group, maintenance team leader Lin Xiao tap the mouse and turned on scraper machine 600 meters away from the screen. This is the eighth remote centralized control operation project he has completed in the past year, which has reduced nine positions and has liberated 36 people from the front line.
Most of the coal preparation plant employees work directly in contact with the coal in a environment filled with noise and dust which demands constant use of masks and ear plugs. With the education background of information automation, Lin Xiao decided to change that:
He first aimed at the crusher workshop with the worst production conditions. Using 10 idle expansion modules in the centralized control system, Lin was able to send start-stop signals and various types of fault signals and eventually control the crusher in the background control computer. In the following year, he completed seven more remote centralized control operations at eight duty points, reducing the personnel by more than 20 while double the efficiency. Currently he is pushing the automation rate of the plant toward 90%.
