Zibo, July 03 - Recently, Zibo Mining Center Hospital of Shandong Energy Yiyang Group successfully removed a deep vein thrombosis at lower extremity with minimally invasive surgery.
In June this year, Ms. Zhao accidentally sprained her left foot and did not see a doctor in time. Subsequently, the left lower limb began to swell which spread to the root of the thigh, accompanied by muscle tenderness in the calf, which seriously affected walking. Accompanied by her family, Ms. Zhao went to the general surgery department of the Center Hospital. She was diagnosed with deep venous thrombosis at the left lower extremity. If the operation is not carried out in time, the pulmonary artery can be blocked easily and lead to fatal pulmonary embolism
On the second day after Ms. Zhao was admitted to the hospital, Zhao Xianfeng, the doctor in charge and the director of the department, decided to implement minimally invasive thrombectomy. The catheter interventional department implemented the "implantation of inferior vena cava filter + catheterization embolization". The operation took one hour to complete. After a week, the swelling of Ms. Zhao’s legs subsided, the pain disappeared and her limbs could move freely again.
According to Zhao Xianfeng, the minimally invasive interventional surgery works as follows: catheter enters into the vein of lower extremity and inferior vena cava through the skin puncture point, breaks the thrombus, and sucks out the broken tiny thrombus at the same time. It has the advantages of minimized trauma, quick recovery, safety and significant effect. Since last year, more than 20 cases of minimally invasive interventional surgery have been performed in this department, all of which have achieved remarkable results.
